10 years ago Jane and Alan Brian moved to Spain to open a caravan site. Instead they found a hung galgo in the olive groves and started their journey with Pepis Dog Refuge, saving hundreds of abandoned dogs, including galgos and podencos. Alan has written some amusing and poignant verse and I have collated these into a book, interspersed with a selection of stories of Pepis rescued dogs by their adoptants. The book is Print on Demand, which means it is only printed when ordered and paid for. (Allow 2 weeks delivery) Order now in time for Xmas delivery. A delightful gift for dog lovers.
Many of you will have followed the story of Charl del Rio Holden, helping galgos in Malaga. We've been friends for several years, since before she starting her rescues. Now she has written and published a book and here's the link to buy it, and support the work of 112carlotagalgos.
Tania Coates of SOS Animals UK & Spain does a marvellous job of rescuing and rehoming abandoned Spanish dogs. She's now written a book about her adventures and how it all began. Order a copy of her book here.
It's here, the Italian translation of my definitive guide to the plight of the Galgo Espanol - thank you to Daisy and Giorgia for their hard work in making this possible. At the moment the book is available as an ebook on this link. Comment below if you would purchase a print version.
Thank you also to Juan Seco (Spanish translation) and Danielle Hart (French translation) who also volunteered to translate this book. Wonderful people to call friends.
Remember, proceeds from the sale of the book go to helping galgos in need of help in Spain.
I don't brag but I want to share this news with you as I am so chuffed. This week I have received and sent off an order for 18 copies of the Spanish edition of my book to a school in New Mexico! So am repeating my thanks to translator Juan Seco and Sandra Baas who introduced him to me. THANK YOU! What a birthday present!
