Vera Thorenaar Redering has been rescuing and rehoming galgos for many years. Last year the shelter was flooded, it has been flooded again and the team are desperately asking for help especially a shelter/kennels in a different area as they can't risk the lives of volunteers and dogs if they are flooded yet again. 18 March - plea sent out
URGENT - BOATS AND ROPES NEEDED! THERE ARE 16 DOGS AND 6 PEOPLE TRAPPED! PLEASE HELP. WE HAVE BEEN FLOODED. DOGS AND VOLUNTEERS LOCKED INSIDE!! WE NEED URGENT HELP, THE WATER DOESN'T STOP RISING! URGENT HELP NEEDED! IF ANYONE HAS BOATS PLEASE WE NEED IT AND WHO HELPS US TRANSLATE DOGS WHEN WE GET THEM OUT. IF YOU KNOW US, YOU KNOW WHERE WE ARE AND YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE COME.
Later that same day. ALL SAFE! Thanks to the Civil Guard and the Firefighters of the Cartama consortium, thanks to our volunteers, those who were outside and those who endured the tug inside with our dogs, to all of you who have been worried, to all, THANK YOU! You are very big!!
Forces of the #CPBMalaga from the fire park of #Coín intervene together with #GuardiaCivil to rescue 6 volunteers and a total of 16 dogs from the Camino de Cartama animal shelter, flooded due to heavy rains in the area; and thanks to the collaboration also of the own volunteers

If you can see this video, inside the shelter, rescuers are thigh deep in flood water. Luckily all the dogs were saved, none drowned.
