'This beautiful girl who is supposed to be adopted soon will probably spend the rest of her life in a kennel in our shelter because she is positive for leishmaniosis and people are more afraid of this Mediterranean disease than of Putin!
With the right treatment, they can live well for many years. It's not fair that dogs with leish don't have the chance at a normal life and the love they deserve more than any other dog.
If you can to give this galga, her name is Mistral, a dignified life and make her very happy so she would thank you with all her love and heart writes to: [email protected]
An adopter with experience of taking on a dog with leishmania has this to say.

Speaking as someone whose Galgo, also from Scooby, was diagnosed with leishmaniasis within months of landing in the US, this should not stop an adoption.
One, because any healthy Galgo could be diagnosed at any time, and most importantly, because they can live a long and happy life if proper care is given. The cost is far less than so many other diseases/illnesses our dogs can get.
Early diagnosis has already been established and she’s being treated. Keeping her engaged and happy will go a long way to making sure her health remains good and the shelter is no place for her. She’s beautiful and she has so much life to live.
I guarantee she will thank you in a hundred different ways if you are the one to give her a home and a new start in life.
My boy was already five, likely six when he arrived. He lived a wonderful and peaceful life for six years. I miss him every day and I will never regret my decision to adopt him even with his immediate diagnosis of visceral leishmaniasis.'
