Many years ago I was lucky enough to visit Barcelona and meet Anna Clements and family who founded SOS Galgos. They were involved with the rescue of 700 racing galgos and some British greyhounds kept in appalling conditions at the Barcelona racetrack which, with the help of the late Anne Finch, founder of Greyhounds in Need, had the racetrack closed down.
Involvement with the Spanish hunting dogs and their plight is a very emotional and physical journey every day. Recently the association kennels in Seville were flooded during a storm and all the dogs had to be moved quickly.
If you want to read more about the work of SOS Galgos, this link takes you to their website.
This story is about a recent rescue.
This is Alma, who lived in the green and dirty cage that you can see at the beginning of the video. She has made a spectacular change in our center of SOS Galgos, thanks to our team that has taken care of her giving her confidence and security. Although she is a very good galga, she comes from a hunting life had never been socialized. Now she lets us pet her, feed her or play with her in the yard. This process takes time and has a high economic cost.
That's why we once again ask for your help. There are many more like her, broken souls. Without your donations we can't afford our expenses.
