Today this 2 girls ( Griega & Maluca ) arrived at our shelter.
Both girls don't look really scared, they now have plenty of time to get used to a new / different life.

'This is Susana, a warrior and a friend, a volunteer rescuer at Asociación Equipo Rescate Animal - ERA that works tirelessly to rescue animals in need. ERA mostly rescues galgos (because so many are abandoned in the countryside), but will rescue any animal in need.
Her help has been invaluable for making Yo Galgo, our film. I went with her on many of her rescues throughout the years. Many times we would wait endless hours, without even seeing the dog. Rescuing is not easy, and requires a lot of preparation trying to gain the trust of the dog. Joining the rescues has made me understand the true effort of what they do. At ERA all rescuers are volunteers, and believe me they get where no one goes, and as many times as it is needed. Last year they rescued around 400 animals, most of them galgos. New arrivals in the last few days. Sandy tells their story. Please donate if you can help with vet bills for them all, so they can be adopted.
This is Faro, he comes from the same hunter as Fletcha, Timo and Olivia. He is 4 years old and unfortunately also he has leishmaniasis. e will take him to the vet to analyse the blood results and see which treatment he needs. Look at the poor state of the boy, hardly any hair on his legs, scar face, sores on his body.
Thanks Tracey Smith for saving Faro and to convince the hunter to handle him over.
After Faro, Princesa and Careca no we have 3 more newcomers arrived, Neron, Triana and Rocio. All 3 come straight from the galguero.

From Ann Marie Payne of Ann's Canine Care
'Preziosa (Precious) has arrived directly from a galguero, very scared, skinny, her body covered in wounds old and new, and hungry. So scared she had to be carried from crate to crate. In fact we had to carry her in the crate to the house. My intention was to bring her into the bedroom with me, but decided to leave her in the crate overnight where she felt safe.
She had some raw chicken for dinner which she loved, and even took some from my hand. Then shortly after she had some rice and fresh vegetables, she loved that also. After maybe half an hour or so her body language began to change, she softened her outline and stretched out. Then she curled up and went to sleep. She's 5 years old, and very sweet natured, even when scared she's submissive rather than aggressive. She will make a lovely loyal pet I'm sure.
