Scooby writes. 'After 8 years of hunting and giving birth, this adorable galga has been abandoned by her owner. This is how many galgueros thank their dogs the loyalty they have shown towards them by hunting hares and giving birth to puppies to sell, exchange them or also use them for hunting. And it is that no matter how much the galgueros insist on denying it, thousands of galgos are abandoned in Spain every year.

'Changes to the entry of rescue dogs to the UK basically if the UK exit the EU with a deal or no deal the Euro tunnel will no longer be a designated Border Inspection Point for Dogs, Cats or Ferrets.. Some months ago the ferry companies stopped accepting transports with rescue dogs on and the only point of entry was the Tunnel. If this is correct the only means of transport will be by plane to the UK very few airlines fly dogs to the UK and the last one we flew over cost 600 pounds plus the cost of the crate paid by the adopter so will be beyond the affordability of most people .. I can not confirm if this is accurate information but
I am aware many agencies have been lobbying to stop the import of foreign rescues due to animals arriving sick and with incorrect paper work. If anyone has any information regarding these changes please let us kno. This is a statement copied from a post by the group below
I haven't mentioned my beautiful handicapped galgo Polar for a while...it's 6 years this month (June) that he came to me from Pepis Refuge in Pedrera, Spain. Here's his story. He is a gorgeous galgo, chases and plays with his buddy Bracken and never shows any sign of pain from his damaged knee. He has been on turmeric for a while but I have now changed to Devil's Claw, which I used in the past for both my first greyhound and my old horses for arthritis. He loves lying on his back with legs in the air asnd a grin on his face, and follows me around...he's definitely a Mummy's boy - till he sees a cat stalking mice in the meadow behind the house. Then the hunting instinct kicks in! Luckily there is plate glass between them! He also has lots of toys, loves to carry something in his mouth, he's got 2 toyboxes full! Below is a pic of him in the courtyard with a selection of his toys. Love this dog to bits!!

Latest news from Bev Farmer on podenca Carley and galgo pup PJ who were rescued together.
'Today we got the final results for Carley and PJ and its been a lot to process.
First Carley...the tumours removed in her recent surgery are malignant and a high grade. She needs to go back for a second surgery to remove the rest of the mammary tract and hopefully sufficient tissue to get clear margins. She had bounced back so well from her previous surgery and now she needs to go through another one. At the moment we don't know if she will need further treatment i.e chemo, we will need to send tissue samples to the lab for analysis.
'Last night the ultrasound confirmed no fluid around the heart and lungs however do need to drain it. Today Eduardo our vet is traveling to Valencia to discuss PJs case with specialist. They have his case notes for a few days so I wait to hear what their recommendation is ..if any .. Bruno very wisely suggested we hold off draining the fluid until we had a response from the specialist in case they do request a biopsy of the liver.
Two lots of sedation so close in time on a already compromised liver is not ideal. Depending on the answer they will both at the same time.. This morning PJ was up and about and ate his breakfast the swelling of his abdomen appears to have reduced which is not what is supposed to happen. But that is PJ, his body doesn’t want to follow the rules.'
