Greyhound Rescue Holland does tremendous work supporting Spanish shelters by rehoming rescued galgos in Holland and Belgium. They've just added 13 galgos from Galgos del Sur to their website, all looking for forever homes Here's a message from GRH to everyone who supports them.
THOUSAND THANKS TO OUR DONATORS
Greyhounds Rescue Holland plans to put the fate of the galgoes through the politics (including, together with Animals Today and Dutch Galgo Lobby), like last year's protest march to the Spanish embassy and this year a visit to the European Parliament.
In addition, we support a number of Spanish shelters that save dogs (getting out of the street, floating from dodging stations, taking away from hunters), taking care of, providing the most necessary medical care, weighting and for adoption.
For the adoptions we are mediating and know a lot of dogs who have found a new home. Great how many people like to give these special dogs a nice home.
All of this thanks to an extensive team of volunteers in the board, adoption team, foster team, aftercare team, behavioral expert, transport team, event team, many home visitors and volunteers who do other activities for us. These volunteers offer their free time and money to help.
Because GRH works with volunteers who do not receive financial compensation for what they do, it is also possible to use all the donated money for the shelters and medical costs of dogs caught in foster homes in the Netherlands. These costs may increase in some cases.
For example, a number of foster dogs received expensive medical treatments last year, such as removal of nipple tumors, dental cleansing and knee surgery.
BUT WHAT WOULD GREYHOUNDS RESCUE HOLLAND BE WITHOUT DONATEURS?
Unable to work, because there is a lot of money needed to help in Spain.
Look for dogs like Gilda (Galgos and Familia) and Petra (Argos) who are so seriously injured, must be operated by a trauma surgeon and have a long recovery period. The costs are often in the thousands of euros and for all costs the shelters need sponsorship. The shelter fee paid for the adoption of a dog by the mediating organization usually does not cover the costs.
That's why GRH is so happy with all donors. Because by you we have recently given shelters a nice amount of money.
So THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Some donors donate a small amount each month, others annually what they can miss. A lot of small amounts make a nice donation together.
Do you also want to make a financial contribution? This can be done by transferring money to NL94 INGB 0683 8660 79 (ING-Bank) to the Greyhounds Rescue Holland foundation. You can also read this on the Word Donator page under the heading HELP MEE!'
At a march in Strasbourg in 2012 I met the founders of the DutchGalgoLobby. It's not a rescue association. Here is its aims.
The DutchGalgoLobby Foundation aims to stop the traditional abuse of greyhounds (Galgos) in Spain by exerting pressure on Dutch and Spanish authorities and the European Parliament. They also publish articles about the Galgo abuse in the Spanish newspaper Público.
By providing broad information, DutchGalgoLobby wants to inform as many people as possible about the shortcomings in Spain with the aim of launching a social discussion.
DutchGalgoLobby wants to achieve her goals by recruiting donors and sponsors, gifts, goods and what the foundation acquires through inheritance and legacy in any other way. The foundation does not aim to make profit.
DutchGalgoLobby aims to provide financial support to other organizations that need Galgos importance, financially, with due consideration and on a project basis.
DutchGalgoLobby will not be concerned with the care and adoption of Galgos.
