I have not updated on the situation for the dogs locked in a metal container in baking sunshine in Murcia because the ACTIN legal team asked for a blanket on the publicity. This ban has now been lifted and I can tell you that the ACTIN lawyers have been pushing through their case with the court. The legal team need paying, please Paypal email@example.com to donate to their fees...they do not charge for expenses etc.
I'm always sceptical of a person who gets involved with an animal rescue association and goes full on with volunteering, fundraising, getting involved with the running of the refuge...goes overboard in fact. Generally, they disappear in the same way - puff, often leaving a bad taste in the mouth on discovering they haven't been totally honest.
Such a situation has happened recently and, sadly, it's the refuge which suffers, the dogs which miss out...
I'll never understand people. Give me animals any day!
CONFIRMED - prison sentence for the man who beat his galgo to death. Six months in prison and a 2 year ban from any activity or profession involving animals including hunting was the sentence confirmed by the court in Toledo for the man who killed his galgo by repeatedly hitting him in the head with a cobble stone. This happened in 2012 in Orgaz (Toledo) and the accused was sentenced with the same penalty last year. After the appeal the court confirmed the prison sentence and ban from the date of 10th JUne 2015. The Association for the Protection Adoption and Defense of Animals in Toledo (APADAT) celebrated this decision and informed the Hunting Federation so that they could revoke any hunting licenses which the man may still hold. They also are continuing to fight for a lifetime ban so that this man may never again be involved in any activity involving animals
Finally - the Guardia Civil and a Judge do the right thing - 15 months imprisonment for 2 men who beat to death 5 galgos because they were no use for hunting...next to a railway line in Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain.
Video (on facebook so some of you may not be able to view) made by Peter Koekebakker. No hygiene, no permits! 600 dogs are here from various hunters! Also people who work for the police keep their dogs here! No entry to the bunkers, no control by the municipalities or the police! It's been twenty years so and it will stay this way with the hunting federations and our White Collar Mafia Mess in Brussels!
