The galgo hunting federation in Castilla la Mancha have requested the Junta to allow this cruel practice of 'training' galgos from motorised vehicles. I have first-hand experience of a galga who went down and was dragged - Paca is in my galgo book, for those of you who have bought it. Please sign this petition to add your voice to the protest.
Nuria Blanco of Amigos de los Galgos also writes on the following action she has taken. (google translation)
'From the Association Amigos de los Galgos we have forwarded the writing contained here down the Parliamentary Association of Defense Animal, (APPDA) which invokes the animal welfare as the ultimate goal of the Association, to see if it may cause any effect.
I'm looking at portable dog enclosures with a view next year to going away sometimes with our caravan and taking our dogs - 5 at the moment but I don't think we will have the old boy next year...13 and a good age for a dog his size, to find some fun dog shows. (There aren't many in France - they are all agility/pedigree showing shows!) I found this link, bearing in mind I need something which can be pegged into the ground! I don't want to use cages for my galgos. Anyone have any other suggestions/experiences to share?
Regular readers will remember the appeals to help pay the considerable vet fees to help galgo Tico, rescued badly injured and left for dead at the side of a Seville road. Sandra has, with the amazing work by the vet team, nurtured this boy back to health. You may remember it was thought he would be incontinent for life. Sadly I can't share with you the latest video of Tico running off lead, no nappy, and moving well on 4 legs. It's posted on facebook, I've asked Sandra if she can put it on Youtube so I can share it with all of you who helped towards Tico's vet fees. I have to say I am filled with incredible joy to see this galgo looking and moving as well as he is.

When I was small, I hated the local annual agricultural show because they always held a raffle to win a foal! Goodness knows where the foals used to end up! Now some stupid b.....d is offering a greyhound pup in auction to raise funds for Marie Curie. Please Protest.
