This galgo, barely alive, was thrown over the fence to Cantinho do Animals de Beja, Portugal. He was in a corner when the volunteers arrived. As you can see, he was completely emaciated and covered in ticks. They took him straight to the vet. Sadly Noah did not make it.
Who can keep a dog till it gets in this condition? I'll never understand.
Toledo hell for galgos and podencos...This is a galga found 19th March down a well in Toledo. There are very few opportunities to save a galga when thrown into a well, but the hunters had also placed a pallet over the top. She is malnourished and is suffering from hypothermia. Fortunately this time this greyhound managed to survive and can now get to know the friendly face of man. SOS Galgos.
Apologies for the lack of news recently. It's not because there isn't any news - galgos are still being abandoned and dumped in the perreras in their hundreds - Scooby and Baasgalgo have taken dozens and Pepis Refuge have had more dumped at their gates. I'm nearing completion of my next book, and that's what has taken me away from the updates. Herewith an appeal from Jacky Cotton for help for a beautiful small galga. Jacky tells Una's story.
This is Una, a 4-year-old small galgo. Although outside our normal remit - our specialisation is puppies - we could not leave her lying injured and unable to move at the side of the road, having been dragged behind a moving scooter. She was in great pain.
