Galgos are being taken into the killing stations in their dozens every week, podencos too, although not in such large numbers. So many appeals to save them that I apologise to you all, I cannot keep up. Those of you who have Facebook pages will have seen them on Save the Galgo - I've appealed for someone to try and keep track of the numbers. Here's another appeal.
This young galgo, 15 months old, was going to be hung. She was saved and taken to a vet, but she desperately needs a foster home and an adoption, associations only. Please contact urgently. She is good but obviously frightened by her experiences. CONTACTO: email@example.com
Another piece of emotive writing from Charl del Rio of 112carlotagalgos, this time about two new arrivals at the shelter in December.
'The count down is done and the galgos are free, chasing the chase of the hare who runs free. Whoever said that this was a sport, for a sport is something that two should play, who asked the hare if he wanted to die today?
It's here that these galgueros walk back empty handed, not all but some who have decided that their galgos just don't make the grade. Some having traded out, thinking others have beter dogs. A galgo is flesh at the end of the day to these galgueros, not a living creature who has feelings, a concept which only they have as consolation to such cruelty.
Every year, in the Spanish killing stations (perreras) 175.000 dogs are euthanaised, that is almost 500 each day! Dogs who want to live, young, old, healthy or sick, playful and sweet like your own dog with a whole life ahead...Yesterday 500, today 500, tomorrow 500, the day after tomorrow 500...EVERY DAY !! SO DON`T BREED, DON`T BUY: ADOPT !!!
Marianne Murphy has sent this plea. 'The killing station in Huelva has contacted Asociacion Naturalia, and asked them to take Jade. She is a galga of around 3 years. She was hit by a car and has a severe hip fracture. Asociacion Naturalia is loosing their shelter in less than a month, and are not able to take more galgos, even less paying for operations.
There is NO TIME to create an event and make an auction on Facebook. So I am asking you all - if there is any way that you can spare the cost of a a cup of coffee, walk today instead of driving, and spare the cost of that litre of gas, FOR JADE ♥
I will collect all the help I can for her during the next 4 days. Please if you can spare 5€ and deposit it in my PAYPAL: firstname.lastname@example.org - marked "JADE",and I will make sure, that help is on the way for her ♥
It never stops raining sick and injured galgos in Spain! This poor abandoned galgo is in Talavera, Cordoba, possibly with a broken leg, very scared, very lame. In a pile of rubble with no shelter, in the rain. Can anyone take it urgently. Contact email@example.com
And this young galga is on the streets in Cordoba, abandoned and malnourished, luckily so far has avoided injury on the road. El Arca de Noe Cordoba want to save her, but urgently need a foster home. They've named her Lara Contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Wishing everyone a peaceful Festive season, only positives for 2013, and especial thoughts and good wishes to all the volunteers everywhere who will be involved in rescuing and caring for all abandoned dogs. Thank you for your continued support of Galgo News
We are in bunkcrupcy, some colleagues has done thing very bad, saving dogs without any control and this makes a big hole in our account, we have 100 dogs as you know and so many costs per month. But this is not the worst, we are desperate, a denuncia by a bad person who is a neighbour of our rescue centre has been made and we have to leave the rescue in one month if police uses the verdict of judge.
This neighbour denuounced us two years ago and time has passed till now, we do not know what to do, where to leave our sweet dogs, this morning I have ask for help to one German friend and she is mobilizing some friends to get foster homes in a great number, I wish we could get it together. Bea is looking for another place to set the rescue, but it is not easy, there are so many dogs
Please tell Helena when you have time, maybe she could help us. Best Pilar
