Here's the latest news about the 22 dogs in Granada which were trapped in a rescue centre where the owners had run out of money, and the dogs were abandoned.

Update: We have received the following from the good people who have rescued the animals in the abandoned shelter..
"At the moment we have succeeded in placing 6 dogs although many are still in the compound, you can see them in the photo gallery. The rest escaped through a hole that they made in the fencing and we are trying to rescue them. We can't leave them there as it's an area of invernaderos. We have already found one dead that they have killed? poisoned, shot, hunger? We don't know but we suspect poison. We are already exhausted.
I live far away and we can't let a day go by without going there because you never know what you will find. We feel alone and this situation can't go on much longer. Few people go along voluntarily. There was one girl on holiday but she has now returned to Malaga and there are a couple of Protectoras who have brought injections and anti flea etc, treatment.
At the moment we have food for a few days. We have to sterilise various bitches which are the most urgent and there is only 200 or so euros in the account created for this purpose. There is only one bitch and one male streilized so far. We have to test for leish and buy collars, pay to treat a little German Shepherd that has a wound on his back. We have to take one of the dogs to the vet because he has a tear in his rib cage and stomach from the fence wire when he escaped. At least he came back when he saw us there. But as we don't have time we can't take him.
Only I have a car, my friend doesn't and I can't go there without her. We are giving him antibiotics and little more. Hopefully the photos will move people.
In short, we need volunteers (difficult as few people want to drive on that road), safe places or adoption and money for vets' bills.
Well, I'll leave you as I've arranged to meet my friend at 7.30 and there's a while to go by car to pick her up. If we go earlier the flies and the heat eat you, we prefer to finish late."
Please, can anyone help either with fostering or adopting a dog, donating to food, vet fees, donating their physical help - anyone willing to drop everything and go there for a week's holiday to help these two girls. The temperatures there are high, there is no water on site......
