22 dogs closed in a farm with no water or food.. abandoned.
There's a couple who had a farm in Mortil Granada and are English. They wanted to start a small refuge, they were never there and paid someone to do the dogs 2 hours 2x a week. The person stopped going and now the dogs are left abanoned in the heat, no water no food, full of ticks and fleas. On the link there's a skeleton body.
some of the dogs have found a hole to get out of, and are running round the mountain. But if people find them they will start to kill them, and if they all get out it would be a manic slaughter.
The lane to get there is immensely bad, in the middle of nowhere, no-one would find the place. It needs someone of the area to dencounce to Seprona.

Seeing this breaks my heart and the English say the Spanish are bad! These dogs need help and although I am many klm away if there are some people who are going to help I will come and join them.

Pauline, have you tried getting in touch with the
contact on the post? Youll probably have to do it in Spanish - if you
dont speak it, try using Spanish Dictionary? You could have a look what
associations there are in Granada who might also be helping, but best to contact
the one on the post. Keep me posted if you can get there. Bless you
for caring.

PAWS FOR THOUGHT based in Salobrena have been up today with our vet and vaccinated, wormed, de-flead, de-ticked, took 80 kilos of food up and will now do our best to rehome them all. We will start the mass spaying in the next week or two. ALL dogs are healthy & happy.... Although a couple are quite nervous we're confident with some one to one and extra TLC they will soon be ready to be homed

Update: We have received the following from the good people who have rescued the animals in the abandoned shelter..
"At the moment we have succeeded in placing 6 dogs although many hare still in the compound, you can see them in the photo gallery. The rest escaped through a hole that they made in the fencing and we are trying to rescue them. We can't leave them there as it's an area of invernaderos. We have already found one dead that they have killed? poisoned, shot, hunger? We don't know but we suspect poison.
We are already exhausted. I live far away and we can't let a day go by without going there because you never know what you will find. We feel alone and this situation can't go on much longer. Few people go along voluntarily. There was one girl on holiday but she has now returned to Malaga and there are a couple of Protectoras who have brought injections and anti flea etc, treatment. At the moment we have food for a few days.
We have to sterilise various bitches which are the most urgent and there is only 200 or so euros in the account created for this purpose. There is only one bitch and on male streilized so far. We have to test for leish and buy collars, pay to treat a little german shepherd that has a wound on his back. We have to take one of the dogs to the vet because he has a tear in his rib cage and stomach from the fence wire when he escaped. At least he came back when he saw us there. But as we don't have time we can't take him. Only I have a car, my friend doesn't and I can't go there without her. We are giving him antibiotics and little more. Hopefully the photos will move people.
In short, we need volunteers (difficult as few people want to drive on that road), safe places or adoption and money for vets' bills.
Well, I'll leave you as I've arranged to meet my friend at 7.30 and there's a while to go by car to pick her up. If we go earlier the flies and the heat eat you, we prefer to finish late."

Hi Spananimal.org
Can I ask who is the other organisation that is involved as we, Paws for thought are under the impression that we are the only ones helping these dogs and would love to share the work with someone else. We have provided flea, tick, worming treatment for ALL the dogs inside and went along with our vet to get their vaccinations up to date. We have paid for everything so far and delivered 80 kilos of food last week. With just 7/8 dogs inside the refuge at the moment and approximately 4 outside that food should last at least 2/3 weeks. We have so far removed Cappuchina the mom, Mona the young female and have covered the cost of their spays and passports. We are currently in the process of arranging collection of 2 more females to get them spayed and into fosterhomes also. like I said if there is another association that is also helping then maybe we could discuss who can help which dogs. The sooner they are all removed the better but it is difficult for us at this time of the year alone.
Regards PFT

Today we have removed Fudge (the tan female) & Julia (the black female covered in ticks). Fudge is booked in to be spayed on Tuesday ready to go to her foster home in the Netherlands in a couple of weeks time. Julia & Mona have a viewing in Nerja for a possible forever home tomorrow morning. Hopefully one of these girls will be in their forever homes this time tomorrow. All 3 girls Mona (the cream one with the darker muzzle), Fudge & Julia are together in Nerja, Malaga. Please see Paws for thoughts fb page for updated photo's and stories of the Honey dogs

Just to keep you updated. There are still 4 dogs up at the refuge and 1 escapee that still has not been caught. All except for 2 females and 1 male have now been spayed, the remaining 3 will be spayed in a few weeks. One has been adopted in Spain, 1 has been adopted in Germany, 1 is off to a foster home in Germany and 2 are off to foster homes in Holland the rest are in foster homes or kennels here in Spain. We could really do with some help with Osa, Nelo, Snowball & Brad as we are at maximum capacity and cannot afford anymore kennel fee's.

Just a quick note to keep you up to date. All the dogs except for Osa, Nelo, Snowball, Brad and 1 female escapee have now all been spayed, vaccinated, pet passported and are either in foster homes or kennels. we really could do with help from another organisation to help these remaining 5 dogs as we are at maximum capacity..............

Thats great news about so many of the dogs
rescued. Email me with pix and details of the 4 dogs to band@bbrennan.eu. Well done to everyone
who has worked so hard to rescue these hounds who found themselves abandoned
through no fault of their own.
