Galgos-SOS in Denmark work hard to publicise the plight of the galgos in Scandinavia and have rehomed galgos from Spain - quite a weather contrast from the heat of Spain for these thin-skinned dogs! Podenco Canarios make it to the UK - Pro-Galgo now needs adoptants

I recently posted an appeal on behalf of Pro-Galgo for help in taking 4 podenco canarios from Germany to the UK. The trip was successfully completed last weekend, and you can read about it here.

Galga Alma - heavily pregnant, abandoned in Barcelona by merciless hunter

Introducing Alma, a beautiful galga - her looks today belie her story. Anna Clements of SOS Galgos takes up her tale.

'We currently have a case of a female galga who we rescued over the Easter period, heavily pregnant, Albert performed surgery on her, it was a life or death op, all 9 puppies inside her had been overdue and were not alive but she managed to survive.

And what a surprise it was when we discovered that she has a microchip.

SOS Galgos in Barcelona - hunters inflict verbal abuse!

SOS Galgos recently held an information weekend in Barcelona, to publicise the work they do with the galgos. This resulted in some new foster homes, and possible adopting homes too. It also resulted in them being verbally attacked and taunted by some hunters

Anna Clements says' I met some horrible hunters who came to several stands to tell me what other unimaginable cruel ways they have of treating the galgos. I'll never understand these evil people'.

Malaga podencas chained up to die - please help urgently

Please can someone help these two podencas in Malaga, left chained up without food or water in a lamentable state. Damn these revolting hunters. It is necessary to help these poor girls before she dies of hunger, thirst or the heat. They have no access to water or food and are on have chains. Read more on Podenco Rescue

Update on Sofie, Spanish galga whose jaw was savagely broken

Here's the latest update on Sofie, the abandoned galga whose jaw was savagely broken. You will see she is now able to take liquid food orally, rather than through the neck. She has to have a second operation, where some bone will be removed from her ribs to rebuild her jaw. What amazing veterinary care.
