Regular readers will know The Blue Greyhound shop on ebay where Susan Dawson raises funds for greyhounds and galgos. Her two galgas were recently chosen as winners of a competition and they were at Bark in the Park last weekend, in east Yorkshire. Here's what Susan says, and some fabulous photos
The Blue Greyhound had a stall yesterday (17/8/2013) at Bark in the Park, a great show that we attend every year which promotes good dog ownership. Lots of great stalls. It was also a special day for Eli and Cassie who received their Dog Star Awards.
I submitted their photos with their stories to the local paper, they were then judged by a panel and shortlisted to the final three. This then went to a public vote through the local paper. They both won and yesterday were each awarded a beautiful engraved glass trophy, a framed certificate, a Dog Stars award towel and a hamper full of dog treats. We took a few photos, the official photos to follow.
Prior to receiving their awards, I had written their stories and these were read out to everyone. Following the presentation a lady come over to me with tears in her eyes to see Eli, she said 'I was in tears listening to Eli's story, I never knew anything about galgos or how badly they are treated. Thank you so much, you really opened my eyes'.
So many people heard Eli's story, so many met her during the day, together we helped to raise the awareness of the plight of the galgos.'
Well done to all of you, a just reward for all your efforts for the hounds.
