The latest rescue by Baas Galgo in Toledo. Sandra tells the story.
'As you know, the Galgo Holocaust can be in any season. While much of the population are enjoying their holidays, our little martyrs continue to suffer mistreatment and neglect, withstanding high temperatures and trying to survive. And while that much of the population enjoying their holidays, our Baas team is ALWAYS ready for a fight, no matter what season is, with a common goal: to do justice.
They got a call: several dogs and their babies wandered onto a waste ground. Some “galgueros” (breeders and owners of galgos) had come to take the puppies. We had to act quickly. We asked for foster families on facebook, people like us, who look for justice, no matter what season is. Thanks to the fantastic response from our followers, the rescue was scheduled at 9:00 a.m.
Leticia and Ena woke up really soon and at 8:30 a.m. were on the way to a gas station, near to the waste ground where the abandoned galgos were living in very poor conditions, just behind an industrial area. They had been there for months and after having been pregnant, gave birth. A neighbor of the locality, Marina, had taken pity on these poor creatures, and she and her family had been feeding and taking care of the galgos.
After several attempts, Leticia and Ena finally got to rescue them: two female galgos that have been called Greta and Violet and four puppies of three months old. The six dogs were transported in the small white Ibiza Seat of Leticia - such a little car for 6 hounds! They were safe.
But they did not know that there was still another unpleasant surprise: a new abandonment. This time it was a little sad Yorkshire wandering by the side of the road, with a high risk of being hit. Honey, how could we leave you there? We, who love justice. So Ena and Leticia, without thinking twice, to take the small Yorkshire with them. Sweeties, you are not going to suffer, anymore. We promise you.
Because it is easy to forget, it is easy to look away. Because it is really easy to disconnect. BUT it is difficult to bang the table and act!
Do not think that you can not get anything because, you know what? Every day we grow more and more. United and together. Together for galgos. Together for life!
Thanks Leticia and Ena for giving your time to save lives. Thanks for your dedication. Thanks to these foster families without whom there would be no rescue. Thanks to all who follow us, who spreadthe word about the plight of the galgos.
Thanks to all who have decided that you are tired of looking the other way.
As always, we need everything: foster families, forever homes, money, sponsorships .... Ena and Leticia have gone to rescue them. What will you do for them?
