Heartbreak for Baas Galgo in Cordoba. Sandra explains.
'Sad news again...besides the death of two sister puppies hours after being admitted, the admitted puppies in Cordoba have Parvovirus as well. The vet finds it very difficult to think that they can survive…….. ... they are puppies and they were given to us very starving, their immune system is under minimum and this is the worst that could happened to them....
In addition to it we have five puppies at the shelter who MUST be out of there this weekend ... and two more puppies have to be admittde ... we REALLY need foster houses and financial aid ... one more effort…….. please. We are working under minimal since emotionally we are having a rotten time ... these news sadden us and emotionally our strength start to fail us.
Thanks a lot and a big, bug, big hug to all from the Baasgalgo family.
More horror for the Spanish volunteers - more galgos needing help. Carmen tells the story.
'On 24th August, Salamera and his son Timon were rescued, sadly we haven't found the other puppy. They were in a very dangerous place and we had to enlist the help of an expert in catching the galgos. We've managed to get them to a house, after paying the ransom to take the dogs! They both need attention by the vet.
And whilst we had rescued them, another one on the street desperately needing help, yet more vet fees. (young grey galgo)
This is a strain on our resources, the 3 galgos need vaccines, blood tests and vet treatment.'
Tigreton is 6 months old, found wandering the streets of a Spanish town, lost and helpless. His beautiful colouring and markings will make him a very handsome boy! Hidden away in a barn for fear of him being stolen for hunting, we need to get him a foster home quickly - better still a forever home so that this baby can have a life very different than the one he was probably destined for had he not escaped.
Tigreton will be vaccinated, chipped and sterilised by Levriers & Co as soon as he has a home to go to - it can't be soon enough! He is affectionate and playful, he's a puppy.... but this baby is in danger the longer he stays where he is!
Please call on :-(0033) 05 65 69 12 26 or email at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com to save this beautiful young dog and give him the home he desperately deserves. Thank you.
Those of you who have a copy of my book will have seen the photos and read about Lucho, who developed leptospirosis and was nursed back to health by his devoted family, especially Chris. He had a very bad start, injured, rescued by Scooby, leg had to be amputated. And yet, with his forever family in the US, he received an overload of love and care. He became ill late last year and has been nursed by both Chris and Dr Couto of Ohio University. Sadly, he lost his final fight. I am sure you will all join me in sending comfort wishes to Chris and family, inluding the two remaining canines.
Urgently need somewhere for these 3 galgos, all female, to go. They are in Cadiz, seized from poachers. Contact corilayka@gmail.com
And I'll add a note here that hunting is due to start next month, hunters are advertising puppies for sale at 50 euros on Milanuncios, and yet the perreras still have dozens and dozens of young healthy galgos on death row. At times I simply can't keep up with posting them all - however do the volunteers cope.
This galguito was saved just in time from the galguera, he hadthe rope around his neck. Reception or adoption is needed for him.

This galgo has been on the streets of Huelva for some months, as it was difficult to catch. As you can see, its rear hind paw is injured and it has many woulds on its body, as well as ticks. A woman has been finally able to gain its trust, take it home and treat the ticks, but she cannot keep it there, as she has no room - she has 6 dogs and her son is against it.
It desperately needs getting off the street and the paw and wounds treating. It lives with a mastiff, is submissive, calm but nervous of people. With the woman it now accepts caresses.
Can anyone take this boy - they've named him Triston. Please contact Paloma urgently.
