We're into July, still galgos arriving on in the perreras, but the danger is also in the refuges, many unmanned at night, when the Spanish gypsies and hunters look around to see what galgos are in there which they could steal for the next hunting season. They have no scruples - these dogs are just a tool.
Baeza refuge in Jaen is under pressure, there are a few of their galgos which are vulnerable to be stolen. They urgently need associations to take these galgos to safety, one a puppy of 5 months, rescued from the local dog pound where they kill the dogs. If they can move these hounds to safety, they can take some more from the Resur dog pound. Here are their details, all very young dogs..
Here are the galgos of the Baeza shelter:
Beethoven, male pup: Selva: 2 years old brindle bitch: Africa

Africa, 2 years old beige bitch:
Milka, 2 years old black and white bitch:
More details on the dogs please see the links, it is possible to choose
another language than English if someone wants it.
I do not think that these dogs are more active than the average galgo,
but somehow the shelter ticked in the questionnaire of them that they
need an active family. Well, they need some walks for sure but it should
NOT deter anyone who is not a sportsman or a Marathon runner!
To contact the shelter, please email Appel des Levriers - they have an English speaker - http://www.appeldeslevriers.com/ Click on 'Contact' on the top line and complete the email form.

UPDATE - these dogs are now in France with Appel des Levriers, but others urgently need getting out.
