Seville, Macu to the rescue again from the gypsy settlement. Little Barbi, scared, covered in ticks, full of worms, such a baby to be away from her Mama. Foster and help with vet fees please.
These babies are in Cadiz, their mother was killed. Bottle feeds every few hours, but they are feeding well. We need somewhere for them to go when they are bigger, and vaccinated etc. Please contact us martasalado@hotmail.com - Associations only
Here's the latest news about the 22 dogs in Granada which were trapped in a rescue centre where the owners had run out of money, and the dogs were abandoned.
Update: We have received the following from the good people who have rescued the animals in the abandoned shelter..
"At the moment we have succeeded in placing 6 dogs although many are still in the compound, you can see them in the photo gallery. The rest escaped through a hole that they made in the fencing and we are trying to rescue them. We can't leave them there as it's an area of invernaderos. We have already found one dead that they have killed? poisoned, shot, hunger? We don't know but we suspect poison. We are already exhausted.
Look at this! 3 months old, on the street with a broken leg! The association desperately need somewhere for her to go before Wednesday, in the Madrid area, where the traumatologist and volunteer foster are. The association will be responsible for all fees, adoption. It's just a short-term temporary home. She's called Ayira. Contact adopciones@ashaprotectora.es www.ashaprotectora.es
Look at this absolutely stunning galga. Here's her story. Literal translation, I'm afraid, as it's late and I'm out all day tomorrow with my 5 hounds, at a fun dog show.
'Hi I'm a dog of about seven months that my owner (Hunter)no longer need, due to my right leg breakage. I am very young but already I have fractured one of my legs, he forced me to run run and run and because of the effort that I broke the tendons...
also I have shot wounds on the body, that did it to scare me and so run more rapid...
now I have it a little himchada and cojeo when I get tired much
but I still enjoying running like a Madwoman as good gauge that I am.
This galga has been on the streets of Brenes, Seville for some months, too afraid to allow herself to be caught, so of course now she is pregnant. She has been befriended by a gentle German Shepherd, who is in danger of being taken and abused. This is the plea from Nat.
' I've seen this galga for a few months now, today I came very close but as soon as she saw a sudden movement, she fled. They are near a bar, where there are bad people and in danger of being abused and tormented by brats.
I desperately want to help them but I am overwhelmed with rescued dogs, I need help to catch the galga and take the two of them to a kennels or foster because in a couple of months she will have puppies.
A lot of Spanish perreras close in August for holidays. Normal would be that they stay open and personal take turns in going on holidays, if you´d ask me. Not here, they all go in August and the dogs which are there the 31th. of July will all be euthanised!!! Better believe it because it´s true!! Yet another part of Spain's shame.....
A while ago I reported on the story from Macu in Seville, where she took a poor galgo with no hair, from a gypsy encampment, where everyone laughed at him and told Macu she was stupid for taking him. He's now in the care of L'Europe des Levriers and there are some beautiful photos of him on this link.
If you're going to Lanzarote, or are there on holiday already and picking up emails, please go to the SARA Protectora Open Day on 21st July.
In addition to the Campaign Against Abandonment, on Saturday July 21 will hold an Open Day where you can come visit us from 10:30 to 17h.
You can come and walk our dogs and being with our kittens, visit the shelter and see how we work, buy things in our market, eat one of our deli food (paella, pizza, tortillas, pie ...) and above all, to say NO TO ABANDONMENT!
