You may remember that earlier in the year I posted about Maria Teresa and the Baeza refuge. The sister of a wonderful galgo supporter has now created a website for the shelter, and donated her time and expertise to them. Here is the result.
The shelter is still searching for volunteers for the following tasks:
1. translate the content of the website into French
2. taking photos of the shelter and of the dogs for the website
The shelter needs an XL size dog trap, too for capturing some galgos and help with notification of any stray galgos which regularly appear in the area and many of them get shot by the hunters before Maria Teresa can capture them.
Especially the dog traps are pretty urgent. 2 weeks ago several stray dogs were shot by the hunters as Maria Teresa fed them but they were yet too shy to let her approach and put a leash on them. And then one of the idiots wanted to have fun and shot them dead. Very sensible, the guy.......
(Links to the traps are in the HELP NEEDED section.)
And please, if you live in reasonable travelling distance from the shelter, don't forget that these deserving dogs need their kennels cleaned out daily, feeding, socialising with humans - maybe you could dog walk for Maria Teresa. She will be glad of any support you can give.
NB The website is still very much in its infancy: at present the News page links to the Baeza Facebook page, as this is still being worked on.
