Re the galga tortured, burned, babies stolen. This suggestion is on Save the Galgo on Facebook. Let's all do it! 'Maybe it would be an idea to tweet to the Federacion de galgos andalucian directly at @FAG43 and keep on confronting them with pictures and abusive situations like this. Organisations can be blocked, but no individuals. They have recently opened a twitter account. Maybe we can shut them down again...
http://www.federacionandaluzadegalgos.com/. Look at their page, click on their twitter and let's get going. NB I don't understand tweeting, so please can someone explain what to do, do you click on 'tweet' and then write a message, or what?

'I am writing on behalf of María Teresa, president of the Baeza (Jaén province) shelter which also runs the local dog pound as a no-kill organization and rescues dogs from other dog pounds in the area . There are a high number of galgos in the shelter, at the moment gone well past saturation point.
María Teresa does sterling work but she is very much alone due to lack of volunteers in her part of Spain and she is no longer young.
She needs volunteers willing to help out at many levels and contacts that could help her place the galgos.
ArcoNatura Linares: "battered and burned in Linares, this galga was found on 25th April 2012... This is what people do with a galga in Linares (Jaén)." A harmless galga, battered and burned alive. Volunteers Arconatura llevabamos were trying to catch her, had a place for her, knew she was pregnant. They went in search of her to try and catch her and this is what they found. There was no trace of the puppies, babies cut from her and taken for who knows what.
This is the reality of Spain- we need the world to see how inhuman have people become!
The Spanish government keeps saying these things don't happen any more(!) but in our experience they happen just as much as before mainly because of the general indifference of both the authorities and the citizens and also the lack of strong laws to protect the animals.
Please write to the Spanish embassy in your country, attach these photos and tell them you will not be visiting Spain until they protect the animals. Thank you. PACMA
This is Maxima, one of three beautiful galgo pups saved from death row in the local perrera, where they were suffering from dehydration and diahorea, now in foster in Aguilas. The tiger-stripe one (bottom pix) is Kate, who is the noisiest and bossiest! No name with the top one. Photos taken when they were 3 months, old, now they are 5 months. Contact Antoinette if you can offer them forever homes. http://www.sananimal.org/
This is Toscay, a beautiful Galga, who is in the Animal In Need shelter for a year and is desperately wanting a home. She's very timid, but also curious. She is so in need of loving an caring arms around her!! please share for adoption! Video of her

Update on the Calasparra galga from Lesley. 'Firstly, Andrea/Alice is very happy. She is probably a lot more relaxed in the knowledge that she is safe and that someone is loving her and looking after her needs at long last. She is on two tablets a day at present but, as yet, she cannot have the injections for the leishmania as she had quite severe liver damage. She is receiving treatment for it and is due to have another blood test soon to see how well things are improving.
