ADANA asks for homes for these Galgo puppies - can you help?

You may remember earlier in the year that Charl del Rio was trying to catch the galga Estepona. Sadly she did not succeed before the bitch disappeared. Charl was certain the bitch was pupping. Now 8 puppies have been found, some of them have been taken by ADANA shelter for rehoming, the others remain in the hope that the bitch will return and can be caught.

Is Logan (Australia) Greyhound Stadium already being constructed?

Whilst greyhound action groups around the world are protesting about the possibility of building a greyhound racing stadium at Logan, Queensland, Australia, and one of the comment posters, Sue Burley of Australia, is explaining why Oz greyhounds live such fantastic lives, this post has been sent to me. Perhaps Sue would now honestly explain just how far this project has got, since this post is over one year old!

Was driving past the Cronulla Park site this morning and lo and behold there were the Engineers with their equipment and a big drilling machine working on the EPA report? Not rumour, fact seen with my own eyes.
Now why would they be continuing with the EPA report if Logan wasn't going ahead Dan?

There has been a very active, informative and interesting debate on the post about petitioning against the building of a greyhound stadium in Logan, Queensland, Australia. One of the vociferous pro-greyhound people posting comments is Sue Burley.

She is, or was last year, an active member of the Australia Greyhound Data Team and this is one of her comments, and a link.

'No need for another club with the Gold Coast having 3 tracks and racing 7 days a week, as long as we satisfy the Unitab agreement.

To: Australian federal Government

We the undersigned call upon the Australian federal government to ban the export of greyhounds to Asia.

The Australian greyhound racing industry is shamelessly promoting and encouraging greyhound racing in Asia. At present greyhounds are being exported from Australia to Asia to places such as Korea, Vietnam and China for the purpose of racing/breeding with further plans to create networks of tracks throughout Cambodia and the Philippines. These are countries notorious for the barbaric torture and slaughter of dogs for human consumption. There is no hope or opportunity of rehoming greyhounds that are 'surplus' to requirements in Asia. As exposed by the media they are ending their days being butchered in the dog meat industry or thrown into landfills. At present this is the fate of Australian greyhounds in Asia.'

Galga Sofie walks the streets of Spain - safe from further brutality

You will remember the story of Sofie, the brindle galga abandoned to life on the streets of Badajoz. She disappeared for a couple of days and, on her return, her lower jaw had been shattered - as though she had been kicked really hard in the mouth. She was able to be caught and through the care of the vet, with her lower jaw held together by metal rods, she is now able to eat on her own, and this latest video shows her out for a walk along the street.

A Troublemaker - In Spain - against the hunters and for the galgos!

Hey folks. There are a couple of comments on the post about stopping the building of a greyhound racing stadium in Logan, Australia. They accuse me of being a troublemaker.

Yippee! I'M A TROUBLEMAKER! What a great accolade, I can't believe it! And if it involves improving the situation to the lives of the galgos and greyhounds around the world, Then Yippee, I'm a troublemaker!

UPDATE--- Greyhound Crusaders/SWAP team UK have written to the Mayor of Logan and all the Logan councillors and we have been informed by one of the Logan councillors that

Joyful greyhounds - would that all Spanish galgos could experience such fun

Check out this video, sent by Charlie Brannan - how I wish all galgos could enjoy just such a wonderful time as these happy sighthounds.

And I'll take this opportunity to give Charlie and his wife Donna a little pat on the back, as they have a lady who makes coats for galgos and this kind couple send them from the US to me (all at their own expense) for onward transmission to Spain, for the galgos in refuges over winter.

Lady Carla, galga left for dead on the M40 in Madrid - Baas Galgo to the rescue

This is Lady Carla, and this is the start of her story, as told by Sandra Baas of Baas Galgo.

'A little over two weeks ago Baas Galgo received calls saying that some kind people had rescued a Galga who had been hit by cars on the M40 in Madrid. They had seen that the greyhound was badly injured, stretched out on the hard shoulder and that no-one else had stopped to help her so they stopped their vehicle in the middle of the motorway so as to protect the dog from further injury. Thanks to Idoia, the Galga was very gently put into her car and immediately transported to the veterinary clinic of our dear friend and Honorary President of Baas Galgo, Carlos Rodriguez where she was treated straightaway.'
