Tina Solera, one of the galgo rescuers in Spain, has just sent in this story today.
'This galgo has been wandering now near my village for approx two weeks and I've been trying to win her over and had a few attempts at catching her. Today I gave it another go, chicken, pizzas and countless sandwiches later(whatever I could get my hands on.. the pizza came from 3 teengaers relaxing and eating in the park).
I won her trust and was able to stroke her but getting a collar on her was looking impossible. I'm waiting and waiting. Then out of nowhere popped my daughter's friend, 7yrs of age and ran straight up to the galga and gave her a big cuddle, she didnt know the dog but the dog seemed really calm around her (children)but stressed around adults.
So I gave the collar to the little girl who whipped it around her neck no problem and there you have it, finally I have her.
The police came as they had a report of a missing galgo but she wasnt the one. She stayed with me for a bit and was by my side everywhere I went and if I
left her for a second she would cry. Poor thing.
She is now in the refuge, she doesnt have a microchip and a sneaky suspicion by a few she's pregnant, we will have to wait. I hope not as the refuge is at rock bottom with money. We had a pregnant galgo come in a few weeks ago who gave birth to 10 puppies on Sunday.
I have attached a photo of the galga today!
Please, if anyone can help offer any help towards her keep, for the refuge, please contact me direct.
