Chris Mosey lives in the USA and last year she and a friend went to Scooby Medina to collect a galgo she was adopting, plus taking some others back to the US with them. This year, although she didn't actually go to Spain this time, she has adopted another galgo from Scooby.
This is the story of Lucho and how he came to join the Mosey clan.
'I’ve been involved in American racing greyhound rescue and adoption for over a decade, adopting three and fostering dozens more. I had heard and read about the plight of the galgos of Spain and their sad, short lives, so last year a friend and I traveled to Medina del Campos, Spain, to Scooby Rescue to volunteer and help where we were able.

Pro-Galgo have some wonderful rehoming stories to tell, including that of Max, the little puppy covered in red varnish. All credit to Pro Galgo who did such a fantastic job of rescuing this little puppy, cleaning him up and rehoming him.
Also galgos who have been happily rehomed with Spanish families. Which is great news. That there are Spanish families who do not believe that galgos are vermin, that they appreciate these fantastic loving, loyal dogs. You can read some of their stories here.

Wondering what to give for Christmas? SOS Galgos 2010 calendars are now available for order. The calendar has been designed once again by our talented collaborator from Germany, Elke Winkler, and features galgos that have been lucky enough to find a home with a kind and generous family unlike many thousands of others in Spain who desperately need help. The last photo on the calendar is that of Blanki, a galgo who has been living wild near the Carrefour supermarket in Baena (Cordoba) for more than a year. He has a length of chain hanging from his neck and is very frightened. We have not yet managed to capture him, let’s hope 2010 is his year.

The Pedro Munoz refuge at Ciudad Real, 200km south of Madrid, has requested everyone's urgent help to trace 4 dogs which were taken from the refuge by Mme Becker of the association '4 Pattes Oubliees'.
This is not the first time that I have heard negative stories about this refuge.
The 4 dogs which need to be traced were taken by Mme Becker a few months ago; the refuge was told adoptions had been arranged. Pedro Munoz have sent numerous emails requesting information about the adoptants, with no response. The refuge only has one address of an adoptant, and when they checked with the person, they were told the bitch was not there.

Susanna Hollesch recently wrote about the Protectora de Granada and how much help is needed for the poor shelters and refuges under their umbrella. One such refuge is Association Ladridos Vagabundos. This is an urgent appeal from them
Aim: Providing the big dogs cages of a door and an awning to protect them from sun and rain. A total of 11 gates and 20 cages for cover.

And every time you open the cage, the canopy that summer we will gradually breaking and fixing the panel that opens to the dog out. So, before putting the roof, we must ensure that all panels of the cages will remain secure. Hence the need to do before the doors.
