Update on the galgos from Jerez, saved from death row by Pro-Galgo

Mo Swatek, president and founder of the association, says a very grateful thanks to GRIN who sent 1,000 euros to get the dogs out of Jerez. She is now appealing for help to raise at least 1,000 euros more to pay for vet care and testing for diseases. Donations can be made by Paypal through their website.

She has also sent an email regarding the injured starving galga reported below, offering to pay for transport to her vet and vet care, but so far, no reply.

Pemphigus Foliaceous - Update on Galga Karmel

30/01/09 Update on Karmel, my galga Espagnol, who has been suffering from a terrible genetic disease for nearly a year now.

We have been backwards and forwards to the vet. Karmel had been doing very well on Megasolene, 3/4 pill morning and evening. We then introduced Imurel, which is the human treatment for this disease, which does not have any side effects. Unfortunately, after a week, the disease started to break out on Karmel's face again. We therefore had to increase the dose of megasolene to control this.

On Wednesday Karmel's breathing rose to 19 per minute, not exhorbitantly high, but also noisy. Straight off to the vet again. Blood test and X-ray.

Another rescue in Sevilla - 120 dogs to arrive at Scooby in the next few days

Back in November 2007, Scooby received news that there were 200 dogs in need in a small town in Sevilla, called El Cuervo. You can read about this rescue mission on our news page under November 2007 - "200 dogs found in awful situation in El Cuervo, Sevilla".

Fast forward to December 2008. We heard that Antonio had been forced to shut down his "shelter", so we have been waiting for the green light to go and rescue these animals.

We don’t have money to pay for dog’s hotel or dog’s kennels, we don’t have time to analyze this or to spay and neuter. PLEASE.. we need other rescue groups to give us a helping hand!!!!!
