Free Spirit - Rosario the Survivor has finally been caught
I don't have a lot of details yet, but Rosario has finally been caught.
She was an abandoned galga in Spain, it took the Spanish volunteers several months to catch her. She was then vaccinated, blood tested, spayed and brought out of Spain into France in February 2008. Only a couple of hours after arriving at her foster home, she escaped.
Her foster family have searched and tracked her, tried to catch her, to no avail. Her foster mum lost weight with the stress and worry, not sleeping at night, waiting for a call that Rosario had been sighted.
She was finally caught on 21st July 5 months after she escaped, 5 months after living on the street, surviving.
It took a tranquilised dart, fired by a professional, to hit her. It took 5 minutes of tracking her through the maze of streets in Niort before she finally succumbed to the sedative. It took 5 minutes before a human could lay their gentle hands on this beautiful galga again.
She is now in a place of safety, receiving experienced human contact, in a home environment, with other galgos.
I have been promised the story of her capture and up-to-date pictures.
So the moral is, don't ever give up on trying to catch an escapee.
