Galgos and podencos are gentle, affectionate, calm breeds of dog, which makes the atrocities perpetrated against them all the worse.
It also makes it all the more important that those of us who care, support the fight to persuade the Spanish government to regulate and control the indiscriminate breeding of these dogs and create effective laws to prevent their abuse.
You can help in many ways. Join one of the rescue associations listed in the right hand column, membership fees are minimal to us, but important to the associations, which are all run by volunteers.
Adopt one of their dogs, or foster one whilst it awaits a forever home.
Sign up on one of their on-line petitions. Buy goods from the association boutiques. Join in one of the fundraising events, or organise one yourself.
Or simply send a donation, however small. Every euro/penny/cent goes towards saving the galgos and podencos.
